Eagle River is a community within the Municipality of Anchorage situated on the Eagle River for which it is named, between Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and Chugach State Park in the Chugach Mountains. If Eagle River were not part of the Municipality of Anchorage, it would be classified as one of the five largest cities in Alaska.
Eagle River has become one of the largest military residential choices due to the tight community relationships and a 10 minute commute to JBER. A beautiful location and easy roads to navigate for those coming from the Lower 48 states, makes it an convenient choice for our military families and others that want to be living closer to the mountains. There are many fun community events throughout the year including the Bear Paw Festival through the Chamber of Commerce that draw the families in this community together.
